Without warning over the past few days, at each cold start, a Blue Window opens, displaying >>>>
    Choose an Operating System.

    [Windows 10]

[Avast Antivirus clear Uninstall ] (no Avast Uninstall is currently installed in my computer).

Change defaults or choose other options.

What is best, to rectify this error? What is the cause of this procedure is unknown to me or have I come across it before. Any help is most appreciated.

RL thanks for your response. I contacted MS help and they apparently knew some thing about this as they cleared up the error in seconds. I am unable to understand that any nasty errors appear to apply to me alone or perhaps no one bothers to report or made known. Certainly MS appear to know as they have a fix.

    What was the MS fix?
Did they do the fix by Remote Control?

Oops. Always pays to PRINT a copy of instructions in cases like yours in case an error occurs.

RL, good advice as always from you. However, concentrating on what is being carried out and remembering to take a copy of what is said on the notes, in my time of life is a step to far for me. In the future must try to take notes. I notice the format is different in opening this site. Also notice, that Adverts are back, between each Post.

Did you make a note of the "fix" last time you had Ads appearing?
If not you may have to spend time searching your Threads/Posts from when this last occurred.

Search all notes taken on subjects discussed and referring to my posts, and unable find reference to Adverts. I do recollect that yourself was involved with yourself. Last time a Add blocker was involved and appeared to clear Adverts from appearing in my Posts. I am not able to see if AdblockerPlus is installed in WindowsBBS.

RL, as you suggested, I found my Posts 4 and 5/12/2019 "What has caused Hard Drive to Migrate." However no references are made as to how to rectify the Adverts situation.

Check in your Browser menu to see if there is an Adblocker applied.

AdBlockers are NOT installed any place but in the Web Browser that you are using. Why would a site that makes $$$ off of ads want their site to block them. What Browser are you using? I use FF and used to use IE and I had AdBlocker Plus installed on both of them. Never once did I have it shut it's self off. I go to sites that will pop up a window telling me to allow the adblocker to accept this site to keep going. If I really want to see what is there, I will allow it. If not, I just X out of it.

I use both Edge and Chrome, with ADBLOCK (ABP) showing top bar. Appears not show in WindowBBS page.Adverts appear not to show when I open this Forum use of an E-mail notification, but on signing in directly, then Adverts are prominent.

Like I said before. It is BROWSER based, not the web site you go to. Click on the AB icon on your web browser and tell it what to do when you get to BBS web page.

MrBill, I check ABP as you suggested, it shows WindowsBBS as blocked as the slider is positioned ON [ o ].

Bobby, did you Check 'Remember me' box when you signed/logged in?
Do you log out from WindowsBBS every time you end your session?

RL Sorry for delay in response to your post. This was due to my user name being change to Bybbyscot and password all without my authorization, or indeed as to why or whom. Sincerely hope this now remedied. Answer to your post, yes though I have to tick box remember me each time that I open BBS, and closing by ticking the X at top of this window.

Seems odd that should happen. Possibly a "typo" error.
I have never logged out of the Forum - I just close the browser when I'm finished and I've never had any problems when opening the browser Tab for WBBS.

I am like you also. The only one that I log out of is like my Credit Union and I pay some of my bills on line. I always log out of them.

Yes since joining some years ago, I have never logged out, instead clicked the X top right of screen, this I presume is what you two gentlemen do too. I was pleased to see today of my being able to sign in in the normal fashion without trouble..
