Wife and I both have our own laptops. Both Win 10 and about the same programs on each. Suggestions on backing them both up individually every couple of days and I would like a total image of both. From the OS down to the dust on the keyboards. Thinking like a USB drive SSD and also what program.
    Thanks

Guess I will mark this as resolved because nobody knows the answer.

Hmm ... ... what was the solution? That you don't care anymore?

    Didn't say I didn't care. Said nobody has a answer/solution.

A NAS could be a better solution than a USB HDD. I use a 6 TB WD NAS to backup my 3 computers.

For backup program I use https://www.ubackup.com/

Back in the day, Windows Home Server would fit the bill... Would only need another computer to pull it off.

A relatively simple solution though maybe a little more time consuming .....

For each laptop mirror the entire drive to an external USB drive using, as I do, Acronis (desktop, laptop & netbook) or Macrium Reflect Free (second desktop) - weekly should be sufficient, but the frequency clearly up to you.

I am not sure if it is possible to extract single files/folders from a mirror - it is not an issue for me as all my data is on separate drives and is backed up to other internal drives which in turn are backed up to an external drive on a weekly basis. I use Synchback both on a schedule and manually (to the external drive) and have found it to be invaluable . There is a free edition although I use the SE version.

Maybe I used the wrong words but in my world, giving up is not a solution and no reason to mark a thread as solved. My comment lead to several suggestions from other members that you can follow up - keep trying until you get there!

The had been 53 hits/looks of what ever before I closed it with not the first comment. And it had been there 2 weeks.

Like PeteC, I use Acronis True Image, and have for years. Personally, I don't like the UI as it's installed on the computer, finding the bootable rescue program, which I have installed on a CD, much easier to use. FYI, you can get True Image, and its companion program, Disk Director, for half price here. You do NOT have to be a member of a User Group.
