I know this is something simple, but I've forgot how to change the volume on the dialup for IE and OE. Can anyone help?

    Hi T&S
    Try this:
    Start......settings......control panel.
    Double click on your modem
Under the general tab, click on properties....and you'll find the volume control slider.

    Tried that.

I remember that I had to go to START/RUN/..... and then change an "I" value. It had options from I0 to I5, or so. I just don't remember what I opened to change the value.

I think that may be what I was looking for. I knew I had seen it before, but couldn't remember the details. Thanks Daizy.

Finally, a solution to get rid of that annoying dial up noise!!
For some reason my modem, (TheSimpleModem56) wouldn't turn the sound off, even when I set the volume level to off. I just tried the settings that were suggested a few posts above this one (L1), even though I am using '98 and not XP it was much the same to setup.
My only question is, and I know its a dumb one - this doesn't effect any other settings in the dialup networking or anything does it?
I'm thinking I'd best set my experience level back to beginner :)

No such thing as a dumb question Stormcrow. :) If there is, I've already asked them.

The short answer is..nope. You should be good to go. It's just to mute your modem.
