Have a look at two screenshots of my LapTop, the first from back when it was new 4 years ago and the second from today. As the title asks, is Windows 10 doing whatever it likes, reducing partitions to chop off a new one?

It does look like it snagged 800MB for something - my guess is for recovery. Can you access the extra partition?

I do note that W10 has had a couple major upgrades - in effect, similar to service packs. But without knowing exactly when each partition was created, no way of knowing.

I don't have the LapTop to hand right now and I have no idea when that extra partition was created and why.

Also, the label on those partitions were altered from "återställningspartition" (recovery partition) to OEM-partition. Maybe that's a hint on when it happened and why.

I just looked on two machines here and all the partitions have the same date with timestamps just a couple seconds apart. And they are all from this last June yet for sure, W10 has been installed on all for several years. So not sure looking for the timestamps will be very informative.

Nope, I can access C: only.

I've looked around but I cannot even find when C: was created other than indicated by the creation date for §RECYCLE.BIN which was 2016-05-17.

Curious - was that "Date created" or "Date modified"? My $Recycle.bin shows a "Date modified" of 2/27/2016, but it was created 7/10/2015. Note you have to modify your view options to see the Date created field. That 2015 date is interesting since I assembled this machine and installed Windows on 2/27/2016. I am not going to say Microsoft is playing tricks on us, but they sure often do things in strange and mysterious ways!

I think mine looks similar...At least it's in Engrish. I can't remember the last time I looked at DiskMgnt so I can't say there has been any changes.

    Well, that was a mixup.

The §RECYCLE.BIN was, according to the column in explorer, last modified on 2016-05-17.

I can not get a column with the "date created". Only by right-clicking and choosing "properties" can I find the information and it states 2016-05-16.

For the SSD and its partitions, regarding time stamps, nothing can be found anywhere.

Yes, similar to my original screenshot. At that time, mine also had 4 partitions but now, four years later, mine has 5 partitions.
