I have a friend who has Win ME, and when I hit "Ctrl, Alt, Delete "
nothing happens; I get no Close Program Box. I normally use Win 98Se, so I am not sure if ME operates differently for this function, or if there is another way to access this.
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Tom

Here's some of what I found searching groups.google.com

Test each of those three keys individually to make sure they are still
working. Spring the $8 if necessary to swap in a different keyboard.

    Try this fix.

Problem: When I try to use the Crtl + Alt + Del shortcut to close programs,
it won't work. The screen doesn't even appear. I've tried all the keys
    separately, and they work.
    Solution: Go to: Start/Run/Msconfig/
Look into System.ini for this entry.
    [386Enh]
LocalReboot=Off and change it to LocalReboot=On

    Go to: Start/Run/Msconfig/System.ini/[386Enh]
LocalReboot=Off and change it to LocalReboot=On

Add the line if need be, save and exit.

    Hi Tom,

    Thanks for posting back.

So, did anything mentioned help your friend with his Ctrl/Alt/Delete problem?

    Hi Alice:
I have not been to my friends lately, but I am going there tonight.
I will let you know if any of these cures work.
    Thanks, Tom

    Hi to all:
This fix will work if you do not have any other issues in ME. I went into system.ini and then under [386Enh] found the line LocalReboot=Off and changed it to [On] and then Ctrl, Alt, Delete worked.
    Thanks very much to all-----
    Tom

Not really sure what happened to make this not work. It may of never worked, possibly coming from the factory configured wrong? Who knows. The people who own the machine are VERY PC illiterate, so they may have never used this function.
