I have a Kingston 120GB SSD installed on this HP G70 Laptop. I am trying to upgrade the software to Windows 10 PRO V1903 using media downloaded from MS. The preliminary checks are carried out and updates are sought but then I get the message that Windows 10 cannot be installed on a USB Flash Drive.

I am sure that there is in the Master Boot Record basic drive information in an early sector a byte that identifies the type of drive, but about this I can't find any information and frankly do not know exactly what to Google. Typing dfrgui in the run window says that the drive is SSD but obviously MS disagree!!

    Any help would be appreciated.

Access the computer BIOS and set the SATA controller to AHCI mode and UEFI. If no joy change UEFI to Legacy..

If you have only one hard drive in your computer, it's possible that Windows is not finding enough space to create various temporary files & then install Windows update. 120 GB HDD is not much these days & Windows installer may be me misdiagnosing your hard disk.
If you can backup your data, I would encourage you to do complete backup of your data, format it & install the Windows. You may succeed but the space (or lack of it) would always be a problem.

Thanks for your tips gents. I will have to leave this for a day or two as I have other pressing things to sort out. Fortunately this problem is only on one of my several laptops, and I can get around it by using another one.
