A co-worker gave me his old computer a few months ago. Alienware X51 R3 Win10 Home version 1903. i7 6700 3.4 ghz 8gb ram Nvidia GTX 980 Ti 6GB video card Realtek audio.
I don't have a sleep option; only shut down, restart and hibernate. I don't want to leave my computer on all day, but I also don't want to turn it off an on all the time either.
With my old computer, I put in sleep mode when I wasn't using it (until I got an AMD card, some driver messed up the sleep option and gave me a BSD on wake). I only shut it down if I wasn't going to use it for a long time.
I looked in the power options but there's nothing there about enabling sleep.

    In W10 1903 > Start > Settings > System > Power and Sleep > do your thing.

    I have no options for sleep mode. When I select "When I press the power button" I only have these options;
    Do Nothing
    Hibernate
    Shut Down
    Turn of the display
I even have "When I press the sleep button" (which I don't have) but the only options there are:
    Do nothing
    Hibernate
    Turn off display

Do you have the latest OS Build? My HP Notebook is running W10 Home 64bit Version 1903 and the OS build is 18362.418.
When I follow the #3 Post instructions I only have Screen and Sleep show with options to set a time whether the Notebook is on battery power or plugged in to charger.
The only way I can display any reference to "When I press the power button" is when I click on Additional power settings on the RIGHT side of the screen!
This is the same as viewing in the Control Panel where you can change the Plans from the Default settings.
Unless your Dell software is set differently as (jholland) has suggested - I can't follow your problem.

I have OS build 18362.418. I have a desktop so notebook options don't apply. I went to the Dell website and while I found a thread with my issue, the posters went off on a tangent and never solved the problem. I tried looking in "Change Advanced Power Settings" and even there, under Sleep, the only options are Hibernate After and Allow Wake Timers. Power Buttons and Lid options has Power Button Action (Do Nothing, Hibernate, Shut Down, Turn off the Display) and Sleep button action, which is set to Sleep (though I don't have a Sleep button) but when I click on it, the option disappears and all I have is Do Nothing, Hibernate, Turn off the Display.
I even looked in the BIOS but saw nothing there pertaining to sleep function.

Thank you very much for the manual! However, hitting the sleep button just turns it off. I'm beginning to think this is a lost cause. I'm either going to have to just turn it off and on all the time, keep it on, or use hibernation. Thank for everyone's assistance.

Thanks for this suggestion but these are the drivers I have. I also have something called Alienware AlienFX and when poking around found different power schemes available. I created my own, which in theory should enable me to put my PC in sleep mode when I hit the sleep button but it does not. It has the sleep options here, unlike in the Windows Control Panel. It just doesn't seem to do anything.
