When I open pages in LibreOffice or its alternative in OpenOffice the pages now show two a page.
    ie. 1. 2. 3. 4.5.6. as to previous 1.
    2.
    3.
    4.
    5.
    6.
What is required for me to change to original page number sequence. Assistance appreciated. Bobby.

Tony T, sorry for that, will try again, admit rather harder to explain what is happening. Start OpenOffice, scroll pages 7 to read 8, then 9 to read 10,11 to read 12 etc, each number now requires to slide the slider to show the alternative page and again use slider back along to read 13,14 and 15, repeating this procedure to read any further pages. It appears that screen now displays two pages side by side on each screen, as to one page per screen.
Example Date: 7&10 Date 8&11 Date 9&12 Each date per screen.
    Date 7. Humid + 10 Humid 8 Humid + 11 Humid 9 Humid + 12 Humid.
Sun Showers Shower Settled Showers Mixed.
Now two dates per screen, should be one date per screen as 7,8,9,10,11 +
Entries for each date vary day to day.
I hope these examples make it easier to understand my question. Appears what I require is changing a setting within OpenOffice that is causing two pages displaying on screen as what is required to a single page as previously was the case.

Bobby, - At the bottom, right of the page in Open Office, there is a slider bar to use for magnification. Just to it's left are page display options that go from 1 to 2 and back. Try selecting the single page.

virginia, as you say they are three icons [] [][] [][] bottom left of screen, pressing the very first [], voila, this clears error experienced by me. My sincere thanks for your assistance, most appreciated. I must have clicked the second icon in error at some point. Members of BBS as your are, are a God send when trouble descends as in this case. Thanks Bobby,

Thanks for letting us know it worked. I use Open Office myself so that problem was easy for me. I excel in simple stuff.

I used to use LibreOffice but found that OpenOffice is identical in all aspects and was either taken over by LibreOffice or it continues as a separate program, but find OpenOffice less liable to errors. You say it was simple finding solution, but not in my case until your post. Thanks again.

Another fault has arisen, in that numbering first line in a paragraph, then entering information and on reaching end of line and clicking Enter, automatically inserts the next number in sequence. Page numbered one is on clicking Enter is added number two as 1. xxxxxxxxxxx
    2. xxxxxxxxxxx
Reading the numbering in help section is of little assistance in solving this. This happens and affects only with the first line.

    Bobby,
I did a bit of experimenting and it appears that placing a number at the start of a sentence causes Open Office to automatically number the next line when you press Enter. When this occurs, note the controls just above the center of the page will show Numbering On/Off (F12) as selected. Press F12 and the number 2 disappears and the line is defaulted to the left margin.

I assume you didn't want the number 2 in front of the second line. Hope it works.

I am hoping that Virginia will read this latest Post, as it is an entirely new error and Virginia is very good on errors with OpenOffice/LibreOffice.

Virginia, many thanks again with your help, appreciated. I did try what you say, before Posting again. It did remove the second number, not permanently as my next new entry, pressing Enter at the end of the first line, again entered the next sequence number was entered. At least, I know how to remove second number.

    Bobby,
Not quite sure why you would go back to the end of the first line and hit Enter but that will put it back in automatic numbering mode. Another thing you might try is to create your document without any numbers and then go back to the first line and insert the number 1 at the front of the first line.

    Virginia,
All paragraphs are prenumbered for the entire current year, and same with details entered. Opening the program each day, requires new information to be inserted. Error starts on reaching end of first line, pressing Enter, it automatically enters the second number. (each paragraph number represents date for that day). What I was wondering, under tools can automatic date be cancelled and entered by hand instead? Help facility in OpenOffice is not very helpful, well in my case that is.

    Bobby,
Try this. In your document, go to Tools, AutoCorrect Options, Options and uncheck the block "Apply numbering - symbol:". Then click "OK".

Edit Note - The above does not appear to work as an edit to an existing document. It appears to invoke the feature at the point where the cursor is located at the time. But it doesn't appear to remove the auto numbering feature where it is already in use. Will work on it further and see if I can figure it out. Robert

    Any help here:
Re: How to shut off automatic numbering

    [IMG]by MortNeff » Sat Jun 18, 2016 7:21 pm

    1. Launch OpenOffice Writer, click "Tools" and choose "AutoCorrect Options" from the menu. ...
    2. Click the "Options" tab and then remove the check mark in front of the "Apply - numbering - symbol: *" option in the "T" column to disable the automatic bulleted and numbered lists. ...
    3. Click "OK" to apply and save the new settings.

RL thank you for response and noted. I tried Virginia suggestions, and up today, auto numbering has ceased. As it is, well pleased with result.

    Bobby,
Your last post indicated that all is working well. Since you haven't "Resolved" the thread yet I have one more thing to offer. I have been on the OO Apache Boards but can't find the specific problem that you posed..

I have done some experimenting and have found something interesting. In an existing file that already has autonumbering utilized, you can turn off the autonumbering and put your own numbers at the start of the sentence/parpgraphs but if you place a decimal after the number, and then hit enter at the end of the sentence/paragraph, it will invoke the autonumbering again. However, if you leave the decimal off, it doesn't.

On a new document, if you turn off the autonumbering before entering any text or numbers, there is no problem with placing a decimal after the number.

Hope I haven't further confused the situation.

Virginia, I have been waiting a few days to check if problem has settled. Certainly, no repeat of error has surfaced, and feel it can be said problem has been eradicated, as OpenOffice is started and worked on, at least six times each day. Thanks you for all help that you gave me and certainly most appreciated. Bobby.
