Took some videos of my son this past weekend with my Nikon Coolpix camera (don't have a smart phone and wouldn't know how to use one if I did!lol). I have them uploaded to my computer but due to my very inept video skills, I would like to edit these videos before sending them to him.
I have looked online for something to use to accomplish this, but with all the scares of downloading something not safe, was hoping someone could give me a recommendation?
Bear in mind that I'm not very computer literate and would need a program that's fairly easy to understand.
Hope someone can give me a heads up! Thanks!!

Hi Vicki. I would go with Lightworks which is one of the best video editing programs out there. The program has both free and pro versions and they have tutorial videos that will show you how to learn the basics of the program, Lightworks Editor.

I have used it quite extensively and would recommend it but other members may have other programs that they recommend as well.

The easiest software to edit videos on Windows 7 is Windows Movie Maker. It's part of Windows Essentials. Microsoft no longer provides a download for it but it can be downloaded at the Web archive here. (web.archive.org is a trustworthy site)

During the install uncheck everything except Movie Maker.

Thanks Evan & Tony for your suggestions. I opted to install the Windows Movie Maker and have actually edited my 1st video! :) I have several other videos that I need to work on yet, so wish me luck!haha I will keep in mind the Lightworks Editor that was also suggested (in case I run into difficulties or want to try another route.) This is why I so love coming to this website...so many helpful people here & I truly appreciate it!! Thanks again!

Avidemux is another open source free editor, but complex. One needs to know technical terms to best use it.
