As of interest, which is the correct procedure in using a Registry entry when computer make up is a 64-bit?

RL, thank you for response, appreciated. Explanation is straight forward, but not clear as to which is correct. My Windows is 64-bit, checking various DWORD in Registry all entries are 32-bit.

DWORD and QWORD have nothing to do with whether or not the operating system is 32bit or 64bit. The D or Q value is for the length of the registry value itself, simply put,. that value is loaded into system memory and used by the operating system.

    A WORD = 16 bits.
    A DWORD = DOUBLE WORD = 32 buts.
    A QWORD = QUAD WORD = 64 bits.

A "word" refers the the addressing size of the target processor. When Windows was first devised, a word was 16 bits, hence the 16-bit size for the WORD type. But most processors these days address 32 bits at a time, so they have 32-bit words. For backwards compatibility, WORD stayed the same, even though—from the name—it should be 32-bits.

    What's in the registry?

Bobby, my question would be "What are you doing in the Registry?"
If it ain't broke - don't fix it.

My feelings exactly. Never, ever, venture into areas where you do not have a full understanding, both of the content and of the risks! One random keypress in the wrong place when looking at the Registry can effectively brick your computer!!

I always rather like the Firefox warning when checking the about:config file "Here be dragons!"

Gentlemen, fellow members, that is precisely what we should all do - to keep out of the registry or be in the end real sorry, as I realise it requires a complete recovery by reinstalling Windows 10. I may be entirely wrong, but found that a complete recovery does not fully restore the Registry or indeed the computer itself, as on occasions that I was forced to make a recovery, some files and programs where still current.

Which part of the above options did you not choose when doing a Reset?

Keep my files, on the above reference this was the case. When I require the need to clear everything save, I choose remove everything, and found on this occasion that one or two files remained installed.

Any programs still used before reinstalling Windows 10 1809, still available after completion of the recovery.
