Even though I have changed all my pix file associations to be opened with ACDC3.1 they all still open after double clicking them with "windows picture and fax viewer ". I have searched for this file to delete it - it is a pain in the butt - but have not been able to find it. Does anyone know how I can make my pictures open with ACDC?

    One further query:
When a program freezes and I discontinue it I get an annoying requester that wants to reprt the incident to M$. Is there any way to disable this.

    thanks up front,

    joste

Right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Error reporting > tag the box to disable error reporting.

I set the file association so that .jpgs were to be opened by acdc.
in , explorer/tools/folderoptions/fileassociations, yet that did not work until i followed your instruction. My question is why didn't setting the file associations work?

Sorry about that joste. All I can do is guess that you may not have hit "apply" after changing your file associations?

I try really hard not to ponder why Windows works the way it does. :p

I know the original post was in January and must have been fixe by now but I ran into this and got the following from ACDSEE
    ===============
Windows XP by default associates all image file types. It seems that
this still occurs even after the installation of third party image
management software. The fix for this is to disable the Windows Picture
Viewer and Fax Viewer. Do the following only if you want ACDSee to be
    the default viewer.

Go to the Start Menu and select Run.
    Type in the following line:
    regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll
    Click OK.
    Go into ACDSee.
Go to the Tools Menu and Select File Associations.
Click on the 'Remove All' button.
Click on the 'Select All' button.
    Click OK.
    Close ACDSee.
    Restart the computer.
ACDSee should now be set to be the default image viewer.
