    Hi,

I'm a bit stuck. Have a homemade computer running award bios v 4.51 on an asus p/i-p55tp4n mobo and there is no ps2 port for the mouse, only a serial port.

I have a serial mouse that I plugged into the box but win95 isn't recognizing it and not sure what to do about it either.

    Hi Marty

I have had this problem twice.

1st time I had baught a new mouse, it came with it's own software, I tried just installing the mouse but no it took the software as well.

2nd time I had to format the hard drive and reinstalled Win95 to fix another problem. When I booted the computer the mouse wouldn't work. I worked my way to the device manager using the keyboard and deleted the mouse and then rebooted. Everything was fine.

    Hi Mopar,

I have no software for the mouse. Also I'm hoping to avoid reinstalling. This is a clean reinstall though, hd freshly partitioned etc..

Is there a mouse override in 95, so that I can use the arrows or something just when I really need the mouse (like for resizing windows?).

marty - I'm not sure about a mouse override in Win95.

I didn't mean to reinstall Win95 again, just delete the mouse in the device manager and let Windows detect it again when you reboot the computer.

To resize a window use alt+spacebar, then use the arrow keys to select "size" in the menu. After doing this use the arrow keys to resize the window. When finished use the esc key to get out. For a list of keyboard shortcuts go here .
