Each time that I close down the computer, caption shows "App is preventing shutdown", what is the main cause?

Does it finally shut down or not? Windows closes apps then shuts down. Something is running in the background causing this. If you think you have everything closed before you shut down, you can always do the 3 finger salute (Control-Alt-Delete) and go to Task Manager and see if anything is open still.

That is normal operation of W10 OS. As Mr Bill has advised, you need to find which App you have not shutdown/closed.
Going back to the days of W98 - you had to close everything down otherwise the comp wouldn't shutdown.
W10 as you have found does this after a few moments.

Where did you get this app? How long have you had it? If you know for sure that this is causing shut down delay then either turn it off or get rid of it. There are quite a few of these and some of them also are known to cause excessive CPU usage.

Bobby, why do you need a clock app?
The current time is displayed on the extreme RIGHT bottom of your screen by the OS.

I agree with the clock app statement. Had a friend back in the day had this big old fancy app that was a clock with all the bells and whistles. He asked me one day to look at his PC as it seemed slow. I asked him about the clock and he said he loved it. I asked him how he could see it other than staring at his desktop. I asked him if I could uninstall the clock for a few minutes to check something and he said fine. Told him he could go back and get it later. Uninstalled it and his PC was now flying. He never did go back and get it.

Gentlemen, all that is said, is absolutely correct, and your advices have been carried out. Clock software promptly removed. This software has been used on this computer for years without any disruptions, but on thinking, I have indeed experienced, several upsets with unexplained errors, as you already know by the numerous Posts made by me. Two other software have been removed, 1. CCleaner Pro and 2. PrivaZer. each time that they are used something crops up to disrupt the computer smooth running. I agree time is shown on the Taskbar far bottom right, but is less eye catching for convenience. One thing for sure, you can't have it all ways - therefore no Clock on Desktop. I have now noticed that Malwarebytes cover for life is no longer active, now it is required of a yearly subscription £50, not ideal for a pensioner on tight income!

Where did you see that Malwarebytes' Free is now charging per year. I suggest that you read this thread from Malwarebytes' and follow the instructions there and they will get that corrected for you. Lifetime licenses do Not expire. If you are being told this then the information is incorrect and they Will fix it for you.

Thanks JH for information. I had to reinstall Malwarebytes due to a reinstall of Windows 10 Home. Reinstalling Malwarebytes, firstly rejected activation codes then showed Malwarebytes was for 14 days trial. Checking the buy showed a screen showing it was £50 yearly. It is not too clear that after 14days I would no longer be protected for several items. It also warns if I try to activate with my codes found as incorrect, I would be permanently blocked or to these words. I made copies of the above addresses in Note pad, can these be open or use of copy/paste? rather than typing in the browser bar.

The simplest thing to do is click the actual links in my post and you will automatically be taken there, no need to copy to notepad, actually an extra step.

Ok. Well, often it is copy/paste doesn't want work from Notepad but you certainly can try it. And if you are like me there are just times when I try to type into address bar just won't work because of some typing error on my part.

Just wanted to make it extra easy for you to let you know that a simple click of links right here will certainly get you there.

Bobby, If you click on the Time & Date in the RIGHT corner of your screen > you will open a larger viewing of the time and monthly calendar > click to the side of this display and it will disappear to the SysTray again.
When you open the url link that JH Posted for you - when the link is open - why not just click on the STAR in the RIGHT end of the Address bar and it will be stored as a BOOKMARK which you can open at any time by looking in BOOKMArKS
which is in the Menu at the very TOP of the LEFT UPPER corner of your screen.
That MENU shows > File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools and Help.

I thought only I was having the problem but now not so. Reinstalled Malwarebytes on my computer as I had switched to SSD, the program doesn't accept the code. It doesn't say what's wrong but the "Activate" button is inactive. Would create a support ticket.

RL, thanks for reminding me of the Time & Date, pity it doe not remain on permanently. I suffer in that, when on the computer, that I completely forget the time and reason for having the clock showing on the screen. Can always ask the CO to give me a shout periodically.

rsinfo, I am also happier knowing that I am not alone on this issue. I am slightly different in that, I can enter both codes and Activate is in black, but refuses both codes and reminds me that I have only 7 more attempts and (decreases at each attempt), before being told that I will be locked out. I have created a support ticket that is being looked into. I am certainly unsure, as the new install requests that you upgrade at a cost of £49.99 per year. It is also misleading in that, if no upgrade is made, four main items are not available. Reading this, I am thinking Malwarebytes as shown under Premium Trial is of a limited safeguard of computer.
Another software CCleaner has taken up the same procedure of having to upgrade at a cost each year.

What you have downloaded at Malwarebytes' IS a trial of the paid version and yes, it will expire 14 days after the download. You ARE left with the Free version which, as you say, the four main full time protection pieces will not be available. That is Not mis-leading however, the download you chose shows it very plainly that it is a trial version of the paid program and the paid portions of the program WILL expire in 14 days. I have used the Free version since almost the first day that program became available. It is just fine for me. But to each his own. You will have to give Malwarebytes' time to get back to you and based on personal experience they WILL.
As to CCleaner I am not sure why you even chose to purchase it. I have used the Free version of it for many, many years. I don't want too many programs that monitor my computer and therefore run all the time and consume resources. Frankly I see no reason for the paid version of CCleaner. Yes it does lots automatically but I don't want a lot of automatic cleaning, especially of cookies. I want to choose those to keep. Some ARE necessary for faster surfing. I don't want my History cleared either which the paid CCleaner does automatically when you aren't using your browser. I want to be able to refer back to a site I have visited if necessary. If I have no history then I cannot do that, I have to search for it again.

JHL, your post is most interesting, but I am confused as to where to obtain both can be found as described by you.
