Hmmm, interesting. Just checked mine to see where it was set and the Print Processor button is greyed out (actually, all three of those buttons are greyed out). I cannot select it.

BUT, if I go to the General tab first, then click on Change Properties, I get to the same Properties page and there when I select the Advanced tab, I can select the Print Processor... button. Odd.

Mine is set to winprint and RAW.

The only permanent solution I have seen is replacing the computer with a different brand.

That really does not make sense. I would reinstall the OS before then and even that is a last resort option. If this only happened with a USB connection, I might think hardware but I sure am confused that it does it with Ethernet too.

Can you find a Brother or Epson printer to borrow and try. I know we said it is not the printer but maybe it is a setting in the OS the HP driver refuses to let go. Installing a different brand printer may force that [perhaps corrupt] setting to be reset. If it works, then maybe you can go back to the HP.

I have had to do similar steps with stubborn graphics drivers - where the only solution was to uninstall the AMD and an NVIDIA card (or the other way around).

As stated in the initial post, changing brands of printers has no effect. Changing from ethernet to USB has no effect. There are two other printers on this network already, another shared HP printer connected to another workstation and a Xerox connected by ethernet. This HP computer will not print to any printer and all other computers do.

Since the initial post, I brought the computer to my shop just a few days ago and it will not print to my Brother MFC-9340CDW.

OS the problem? Yes. Something HP does to the OS the problem? I'm convinced. Too much evidence to believe otherwise.

Sorry, before posting that I looked through your list of things and didn't see that. I should have read your whole opening post. I even acknowledged that in my post #8. I'll blame it on GCF (geriatric cranial flatulence). ;)
Yeah, I agree. They did something to make the OS and/or the hardware proprietary  - as also mentioned in post #8 above.

I sure don't know what to suggest - except build your computer next time. At least when you build your own, you can make sure everything complies with the ATX standard.

One thing you can try to see if it is an issue with Windows 10 or with HP updating the printer driver and causing the printer to no longer print properly is this method. Uninstall all the HP drivers from your system, install the HP printer driver from the CD that came with the printer and then set Windows Update to not atomically install drivers from Windows Updates using this link here, Disable drivers in Windows Update.

Once you have done that see if the printer continues to work after a period longer than 10 days. You mentioned that it does work for a small period of time before the driver breaks and you no longer can print to it properly. We need to rule out if its Windows 10 that is updating the printer driver automatically or if HP is updating the driver instead with a newer version that does not work properly with the printer.

Make sure you look for a scheduled task or a HP service that is set to install HP updates and disable it as one of those updates could have caused the issue as well.

The problem in my mind with that is he has tried different brand printers. And also, those printers work fine on other computers.

Then there could be a software setting left over from a corrupt printer driver install that is carrying over to the other printers when trying to print.

Maybe Resetting the Print Spooler could help in this instance.

You need to review his opening post. He has done all that, several times. That's why this problem is so odd.

And changing printer brands would overwrite any corrupt printer driver.

Yeah I saw that. The only other thing I can think of would be to perform a clean install of Windows and just install the basic drivers for the printer and see if that can rule out some HP specific driver or HP feature on the computer itself that is interfering with how the computer is printing to the printers. The OP did say that he restored the computer to factory out of the box defaults but did not say whether he tried printing on a CLEAN install of Windows 7/10 and see if the same issue happens.

So that would be the last thing I would try.
