I may have saked this same question in a past Posting. On each use of the software its window, is set to required size, there after at each opening of the software opens to a bigger size window, presumably opened by Windows 10. I am made to believe, that Windows 10, after several opening of the same window, remembers setting and there after opens the window at the set size. Your suggestions appreciated, Bobby.

Click on the box to make it a double box (maxmize). Then it will always be full screen. Seen other suggestions over the years and they work mostly but not always and will revert back on the next opening of the window.

Thanks Mr Bill, Actually, what I am striving for, is not what is happening now, software is opening in maximium size. I have never used maximum screen size, as it obliterates all other items on the screen. It could be, that Windows 1809 no longer offers facility that I am looking for.

Hold the CTRL Key while dragging the window to the size and location you want.....and while still holding the CTRL key - close the window.

I have tried this prior and again today. Still opens a larger screen size than was selecte at shut down. Another annoying quirk added to my collection. Thanks for your response Steve.

Bobby, as MrBill stated - the very TOP RIGHT of your screen web page shows the minimize to Taskbar, (-) the half screen (square with shadow) and X to close the page.
If I use the half screen icon - my screen reduces to half size which allows Desktop icons to show, and when I CLOSE the screen completely it will open to the reduced size next time I open my browser.
Is this what you have done/need?

RL, it is indeed what I am stressing to do. Clicking the half screen in my case at present, places it on the taskbar. Clicking the taskbar, reopens window at full size as before. This procedure did for a long time do as you say, reduce the full screen to my manual setting.

RL, It is very seldom that I change Style and Size of Font, certainly not since this Post for help. I notice that majority of help replies, refer to Windows 7, and as I have said feel Microsoft has removed the Windows 7 where it saved the window setting after several sessions, further no reference of this in Windows 10. My icons is set at small size in the Desktop.

RL, with a bit of tinkling about with the screen size issue, this may solve the problem.
Switch the desired software icon (YOWindows software or any applicable title)> press the Alt+Tab keys at the same time> then press Spacebar+Alt key again at the same time> then press the S key - this turns on - | - key move it arond inside the open window, to increase/
decrease the window screen size> when satisfied with window size> press Enter key> now close and restart the computer and check if new size of window is showing on the screen. This worked for me, and only hope it is the cure that I am looking for. Bobby.

I was thinking about a simpler cause of the problem. Check the properties of the shortcut to the program. Right-click the icon and choose properties. The "run" setting has three settings, "normal", "minimized" or "maximized". If it is set to "maximized", change it to "normal".

In Windows 10, start > programs, it seems like the properties aren't available. You have to stick it to the taskbar. Right-click the icon on the taskbar > the program icon should appear > rigtht-click it and the properties should be a choice. (And some say Windows 10 is a step forwards ... ... !)

Christer, I checked my copy in my computer. Right click of Software in Taskbar, showed name of Software and Unpin from Taskbar, nothing else showing. It does appear that Windows 10 does'nt support as it did in Windows 7 and as you say, so much for progress by Microsoft.

In the right-click menu, right-click "name of Software" and next, you can click "properties" to check that setting.

What appears on the right-click menu depends on the program. E.g. for MS Word, in addition to the two options you mention, a list of recent documents appears, enabling you to open Word and the desired document opens.

In my case this is not happening. In my Post #10 my search for solution has apparently solved itself, my search and perhaps may well help others in need. Several Forums that I searched, appear not to have a working solution or heard of this. I appear to be unique in obtaining by default such computer errors, that no one else has come across.

I think you found the answer!
It appears millions of W10 users never get the problems you encounter.:oops:o_O

RL, or it could be, they have but never Posted or seeked help. I for one will not admit defeat but do depend on others for help who thankfully in most cases do just that. As they say "If you don't ask, you will never know the answer".

Here's a link which may be of assistance to you in future:
    https://www.guidingtech.com/windows-snap-assist-fix/

Both Christer and I were unable to follow your info in your Post #10 - where did you get that info from?
I think you may have some OS Files corrupted because my system operates as designed by MS.
The link suggests using command prompt to check the OS.

RL, oh dear!, as I said in #10, after some "tinkling" and using my limited computer knowledge, found a working way around my problem, and it worked and still does. At no time did I think, this would cause people being unable to follow my written, probable solution. I am ineed sorry if this has been the case. I realise now, that 90% of my problems raised in this Forum over the years are unique only to me and not apply to any other computer users.
