    Hi all,

As a little project I decided to re-install windows xp on an old Dell Vostro 1000. I used an original xp setup disk and a standalone update to service pack 3. I then also installed ie7.

After all that I was able to activate windows on line as well as download a whole bunch of updates. However, I am unable to log on to this bbs. Or any other system for that matter. It’s been a while since I was on XP, so I am not sure where to look for settings that I have to adjust.

This is a DSL system that is always on and the modem reports that PC is connected to the modem. And as stated above, I am getting to MS, but nowhere else.

Someone point me in the right direction please

    Thanks

    Sven

IE will not work. IE7/8 on WinXP is way to old, its SSL is vulnerable, so modern SSL websites won't allow it to connect.

    Thanks Arie
Can I install a newer version like IE 10 or 11, or is XP not capable of running 10 or 11
    Thanks

I believe IE8 is the final version for WinXP. Apart from that, going on-line with WinXP would not be wise.
