    Hi All

I can move desktop & my documents folders to already created at D: drive eg Users\Mike\desktop and ... \documents by using Location tab in properties.

But I want to move the whole Mike folder to D:. What is the easiest way? ;)

No need to move the whole directory to another drive or partition.

You can right click > select Properties of all your personal data directories (Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, etc.) and change their location by first creating empty directories on the other drive or partition and then use the Location tab and Move button in the Properties dialog.

Your user directory contains many hidden and system directories which get modified by currently installed software and also by new software installations. Most software installers have "hard coded file paths" and won't be able to create directories or files in your user directory during the install. Also, operating system upgrades will fail.

Relocation of the Users directory and the ProgramData directory to a drive other than the drive that contains the Windows directory

Tony Thank you, I am doing what you advise for desktop.

Essentially you are saying I should move the whole user folder because of the reason you stated. Cheerio

I am saying you should NOT move the whole user folder. Only move your data folders:
    Desktop
    Documents
    Pictures
    Music
    Videos
    Favorites
    etc.
