I have a relatively new lenovo ideapad 110 with the BSOD message. It is out of warranty period

Can I do a repair install and not lose data?

I saw somewhere that I could mount a virtual drive and run W10 install from there saving data and apps. I can get to a command prompt through Advanced options under automatic repair. Is there a way to mount a virtual drive from a command prompt and run the install?

or am I as far ahead to just reformat and reinstall?
    thanks

Hi cspgsl. Follow my guide for Repairing Windows 10 and see if you can get your computer to boot successfully.

    Thanks Evan

I cannot get into Windows at all

From the Troubleshoot, Advanced Options, Command Prompt:
    I ran the sfc /scannow from X\system32\cmd.exe - sfc /scannow
changed it to the C\system32\ and got the same result
Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command says Dism is not supported from Windows PE environment

Can I run Windows Repair (All In One) from the Troubleshoot, Advanced Options, Command Prompt?

Automatic Startup Repair failed to get the computer working
System Restore also fails as it doesn't look like it was enabled on the drive.

Any other thoughts? If not, it's a reinstall from scratch

Yeah unfortunately if none of those commands worked then a reinstall is the only option.

The Windows Repair all in one tool can only be used if your computer actually boots up so you are out of luck there. Make sure you have all your data backed up before performing a clean install of Windows 10.
