Resolved cannot get desktop to recognize a 2nd HDD

    This seems strange but I cannot find any way to get a Lenovo M70 E to recognize a 2nd HDD when I install it. It is not recognized in the BIOS. I have an SSD as drive 0.

    I should mention that I have tried different HDD's and cables that are known to work.

    I cannot get anything to register on the "Sata Driver 2" in the BIOS. See attached screenshot

    Any thoughts on what steps I should be taking to enable this?

    What happens when you remove cable of SSD? Is the HDD recognised or not ?

    In bios verify that ALL sata ports are enabled.
    I've read of similar issues with Lenovos and the solution is to reset the bios to its defaults and reboot. That failing, clear the cmos completely and start anew.

    the HDD is seen in the bios but with no OS on it, of course I cannot go further

    I cleared the cmos and it now sees all sata ports and drives
