    hi folks,
    g'day from Down Under..

    using W7 Ult SP1 ...
had a bit of prob recently , system invoked a Chkdsk ... pc seemed be slower after ... but on reboot seemed normal...
now when boot up get black screen with message :
    checking file system on C:
The type of file system is NTFS volume label isD2w7Local Disk . { I have 2 internal hd's ,1 for W7 ,1 for XP )
One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency .
You may cancel the disk check . It is strongly recommended that you continue .
To skip disk check press any key within 2 seconds ( which I did ) .
PC booted up ok ... then I got a message via a Zone Alarm popup alert :
The file in File or Directory Users\Dadadmin\AppData\Local\Temp\IswTmp\Logs is corrupt or unreadable .run ChkDsk utility.
Note: the first letter in the "Isw..." is upper case i ..
just at the moment i am a bit wary of doing another Chkdsk ,so soon after the recent one...
i want to do a lot of backing up before i do a repeat .. am a bit worried about maybe a sign of a HD failure ... is 7 years old..
    Questions ... can i / should i , ignore until finish backups..
when i go to the file in xxx\Logs\ there are only 2 recent files :
FFsApi.swl Type SWL File dated 29092018 , and FFswl.old Type OLD File dated 27092018 .
would it be ok to assume the " OLD" is the corrupt ,and to delete it .?
if still get the ChkDsk message ,should i then try move\delete the newer 29092018 file ?
NOTE : there are many 1000's of files in the xxx\Local\Temp folder ; going back over 8 years... should i delete some ? which ones ?
also note : after pc eventually boots ok , all is normal for an hour or so, then runs very sluggish ??
    not had this before ...
hope have explained in enough detail .. apologies my questions are difficult...
    thanks for any help ...

    Please

Hi iwilldo. It looks like you have a lot of temporary files on your system. Download the portable version of CCleaner to clean out all the temporary files on your system, CCleaner.

Also since that hard drive is many years old have you considered upgrading your existing hard drive to an SSD? If so I would recommend getting this one, Samsung 860 Evo 500GB 2.5 inch SATA III Internal SSD.

The Windows Repair all in one repair tool is for Windows 7 and for Windows 10.

Do you have any other questions that I can answer?

    thanks , Evan Omo ..
I was wondering whether it is likely that both the System and the ZA instructions regarding ChkDsk are for the same reason...
    ? what you think , please ?

I'm not sure what you are referring to but Check Disk was suggested by Windows probably because of file corruption on the drive but you should upgrade to an SSD if possible as that will improve your systems performance.
