In the past, arranging bookmarks by drag-n-drop has worked fine but as of late (Quantum?), it drops them randomly and occasionally it's like throwing in a hand grenade. Anyone else out there who has noticed the same misbehaviour?

In Quantum 60.0.2 (64 bit) dragging and dropping bookmarks in the Bookmarks Menu works fine for me as does 'Sort by Name'.

Christer - my Quantum seems to work OK for now. I'll try it some more and see if it misbehaves like yours.

Pete - I didn't know you could sort by name. Just checked it out and now I know. Thanks.

"Sort by Name" works fine, that's what I generally do. Drag-n-Drop is what I do in the "Other Bookmarks" folder which I use as a temporary folder. Testing in other folders indicate that the problem is confined to the "Other Bookmarks" folder but I'm not sure. I have to test some more.

Drag and Drop works for me in Other Bookmarks OK and Sort by Name is OK. Using Quantum 60.0.2 64bit.

Thanks for Your comments. Maybe it's time to use a backup of my profile from when "Quantum" was a fresh installation.

I used my backup profile but it has an empty bookmarks folder. Copying the current bookmarks folder to that profile ends up with the same misbehaviour. The bookmarks seem to stick to where I put them until I close the window and reopen it.

No solution but I'll put this on hold for now.

When a link to a webpage is saved, the default location is "Other Bookmarks". I've always dragged-n-dropped within that folder but when I decide to keep a link, I move it to the desired folder and click "Sort by Name". I've had hundreds of links in "Other Bookmarks", dragged-n-dropped, deleted or moved to other folders and it seems like it became too much for Firefox. I did a "Sort by Name" and after that, dragging-n-dropping works as it should. Well ... ... for now at least!
