Running an HP 630 laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

I am getting the message 'cannot create homegoup on this computer' when attempting to join the homegroup via troubleshooting Homegroups. I also get a message that says 'no networks on this computer are joined to the homegroup', this message pops up while I am in the Homegroup troubleshooter itself. In the Network and sharing center it shows that the connected internet connection is of the Home network, which I don't think is the same as the homegroup.

I do not know exactly when this problem came about but may have been installing some Windows updates. Nothing ran differently immediately after doing the updates so I was not aware of any changes that may have taken place with my internet connection. This matter has now gotten to the point that I have extremely limited access to the internet and when I am able to go online things are exceedingly slow and getting dropped off frequently.

The only hint at getting the matter resolved I have found refers to the Peer Networking within the AppData. I have not been able to find such to even experiment with.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Even going to the point of clearing any and/or all existing internet connection settings and starting it anew would be fine with me, if I only had a clue how to do it.

Were you connecting to a 'Homegroup' before the trouble?

Either re-install your network group or try a System Restore prior to the updates.

Thanks for the help, I think the re-install would be the best thing to do at this juncture, however I don't know how to go about that, any instructions on where to go from here would be super. Thanks again for the help!
