My current desktop rarely gives me any trouble. Now, however, the 60GB C; drive is full and I need to replace it. The current drive is an Vertex OCZ SSD and the replacement is a WD Blue 500GB SSD.

I've tried to install Acronis True Image WD Edition but, I cannot make enough space on the C: drive for it to install. Acronis doesn't give me the option to install it anywhere else.

This desktop is probably 5 years old with an early Intel I5. Besides the C: drive there is an drive that contains all my programs, one for all my data and photos, another 500 GB for my image backups that is half full, and a 2TB WD My Cloud that handles the backups for my wife's laptop and my racecar laptop.

I also have an Ultra USB 2.0 to SATA adaptor that can be used if needed and my next image backup is scheduled for tomorrow.

Is there another image program that I can install somewhere else than the C: drive?

Check out TeraByte. I run Image for Linux from a USB-stick. (Don't be fooled by "for Linux", it works with any OS and file system.) There's a 30-day free trial!

Well, after much gnashing of teeth I was able to clean enough programs off my C: to allow Acronis to install. The new drive wouldn't boot. Fortunately I had made a Windows Recovery Disc some time back. I ran that through for repairs three times and all the issues were repaired and the new drive booted correctly. I've just finished re-installing those programs I had uninstalled. Everything appears to work correctly for now. So, I'll mark this as resolved.
