Web Cam not working

    I am using a Logitech C-270 web cam on a desktop computer/monitor which does not have a built-in camera. I think I’ve had it for about 4 years. The CP has Win 7 OS. I have not been using the web cam over the past few months - but when I recently tried to do so, found that it no long works. I'm not aware of an "event" which might explain why the camera "stopped working". (The camera does not show image when using the camera to take a snap shot with Logitech utility – nor does it work in Skype or Google Talk.) The camera has a built in microphone and this continues to function. I can “test” the microphone with Logitech utility and it continues to function with Skype. The camera doesn't work but the microphone does.

    I uninstalled driver, deleted it from computer, downloaded new driver from Logitech, and re-installed it - but the camera still does not work.

    I also downloaded drivers to a laptop computer and tried to set up the camera there – but found the same problem : camera does not work.

    If anyone has suggestions of other diagnostics I might want to do – (before deciding to discard the web cam and buy another one) – I’ll appreciate the feed back. Thanks!

    Since you tried it on two different computers, it seems certain the camera died. Other than making sure you did not leave anything covering the lens, there are no troubleshooting steps I know of you can take. Since it was not a costly camera from the start, you can take it apart and look for a loose or pinched wire - if you destroy it in the process, little is lost. Without a schematic, there's nothing more.

    Perhaps the Cam is defective.
