Live Osprey Camera Streams

    My partner and I set up IP cams over osprey nests in June, 2018 at Patuxent River Park in MD.
    The live video and audio is sent to a large screen TV in the park visitor center.
    We are now in the process of streaming the video and audio to YouTube Live.

    Camera 1 is working smooth, Camera 2 needs some adjustments, the posts out in the river which hold the cameras were skewed by a strong wind storm last March and winter ice movement. As a result, the wifi band to camera 2 is slightly off and the live video is choppy. This will be fixed shortly.

    The live stream will be ON and OFF at times today.

    The YouTube Channel

    Streaming and encoding is done using ffmpeg. It grabs the RTSP feed from each camera, encodes it to YouTube requirements for RTMP and pushes the stream up to a YouTube Live channel.

    Tony,

    Interesting project. I was curious about Patuxent River Park. When I Googled it I found two Patuxent River Parks - one close to Bowie and one further south close to Lower Marlboro. Which one has the web cameras?

    Yes, we setup the cameras in June 2017. Just recently we were contracted to stream the live feed to YouTube. It's been working solid for the past 4 days, no glitches.
