Tried to download latest update for Win 10 version 1709 - 2018-02 Cumulative Update for 1709x64 based system. Latest install attempt failed 7/03/2018 0x80070643. Has anyone experienced this error? Is it solely on my computer or Microsoft? Comments will be most appreciated. Bobby.

My sincere thanks for information and file. It appears the problem has now been fixed, thank you. Yesterday spent over three hours with MS Help Desk, and after much messing about with try this and this, I terminated the session, truely frustrated. Your reply was a piece of fresh air, solved within ten minutes. Microsoft certainly could benefit with WindowsBBS members knowledge of their products. Thanks again retiredlearner for help.

I have again checked Update history and find KB4090913 shows "Last Failed install attempt on 07/03/2018" error 0x800f0922 replaces previous 0x80070643. Is it now that update remains failed?

    Have a read here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4090913/march5-2018kb4090913osbuild16299-251
This is the "FIX" for your problem - no need to get concerned about it.
My suggestion is to let MS auto updates do the job. Don't do searches for 'new' updates!
Do you open Settings > Update and Security > Check for Updates?
There is always a message stating when the system was last checked and whether you are up to date.;)

The fix still shows caption that it is unable to completely install and reinstalling computer to previous setting. As you suggest just forget this episode before a disaster occurs. Setting is set to auto as previously. MS Help Desk appears not aware of any problem.

I had no problem with the update. It downloaded and installed along with a Defender security patch.
The security patch was installed first - then the update.
As I have stated before - I don't use the comp when I am aware updates are downloading and installing.
I wait until it's finished as I feel there is plenty going on without me adding to it.

Well it must be my setting cause of failure. On 08:03:2018 two updates listed KB4090913 (failed) - KB4074588 (successful). No mention of Defender (antivirus that I use at the moment).

    Have you done any Restarts?
I have found that sometimes W10 reacts to Restarts rather than a Shutdown and Reboot.

Exactly, when you do a restart, Fast Startup is bypassed and you get a "hard reboot"! In my opinion, Fast Startup is the work of the devil and there are many reasons to disable it. My reason for disabling is that Fast Startup doesn't go well with drive imaging.

Latest update KB4090913 and KB 4088776 both show in Microsoft Updates as unable to install. Downloading same two KBs direct from Microsoft Catalogue.Update and install response that Windows 1709 is not "applicable to my installed OS"

Today checked Windows Update, and find Microsoft has reinstalled both KBs numbers as they now show as installed "Successfully". Thank goodness for that, now can stop blaming my settings being the culprit. Solution now solved, well in my case anyhow.
