Although there's no data to recover on the flash key, the size has dramatically reduced after using it on an ARCH Linux computer.

How do we get all that space back? Formatting did not help. CHKDSK does nothing.

Hi Suzette, are you sure it had the space stated?
There are dodgy flash drives in the market which do not have the full stated GB space!
Is it recognized in Explorer as the GB size on the drive?
If you Right click on it > Properties > GB size?

Open the drive in Disk Mgmt. Delete the volume. See how much space is there for a new partition. Also, it's quite possible that Arch somehow created an ext4 partition which is not readily readable or usable by Windows w/out 3rd party software.

I'd put the drive back into a Linux comp and use gparted to delete the partition(s) and create a new ntfs or xFAT partition.

It is recognized in Explorer however, it shows 63.7MB. I know for a fact that this key was 8GB.

Hi Tony, Disk Mgnt does not offer "delete volume" in any options; (i.e. right click drop-down menus or file/edit menus). I will try Linux gpart and see what happens.

Great News; all 8GBs returned. As always, two heads are better than one, and after reading the replies above, my curiosity peaked.

Thank you Tony! Your suggestion and guidance to use gparted gave me the direction to use EaseUS Partition. Now all our USB keys are back in original working size; at least until next time.
