Have Win 7 Dell 32 bit desktop and latest Thunderbird. Can't tell you version cause I can't open About.

My wife swears she just deleted one inbox msg and now TB isn't responding. Popup says that script is busy or not responding, do you want to wait or stop it. Script: chrome://messenger/content/tabmail.xml:1435

I click stop or wait and it won't respond. Opened in safe mode for TB but the same script box and not responding. Can't click on anything in TB. One time it allowed me to open addons and I quickly removed the two that were there but disabled. Did Win safe mode but TB didn't respond there either. Tried a System Restore to yesterday. It was successful but no change in TB. I added thunderbird.exe as an exception to Avast.

If the laptop is working OK except TB - Download a new copy from Mozilla and install.
It should install and replace the existing version and automatically bring all your old TB data over.

Most probably some problem with your message store. Create a new temporary profile & see if it works Using Multiple Profiles | Thunderbird Help.

If it does, it means that your message store is indeed damaged. Take a backup & delete all ".MSF" files. Now try to open Thunderbird again.

Will try when I get back to town in a few days.

If you do the new TB install - it will prove rsinfo's suggestion.

No need to dl new copy but Mozilla had an update 2 days ago. You might also update.

You don't have to open the app to update. Just download & install. The data store corruption issues (if any) would remain.
