I had a large PST file and my Outlook was dragging and was getting stuck on bringing new mail into the inbox. I decided to buy the Kernel for Outlook PST Repair program to see if I could bust up the pst file or something. Before I was even able to get through one try, it gave me an error and said I needed to change my settings in Outlook.(Tools>Options>Mail Setup>Email Accounts>(Don’t remember the rest). So I followed the instructions and did it. After that, Outlook will not start now. It gives error that “The MAPI spooler could not be started MAPI 1.0 (000004c7)”. Not sure if the above setting change was just coincidence, or has some relevance to the problem.

So now I can’t even open Outlook!!! What can I do??
I have reinstalled Microsoft Office and Outlook. Same error! I have run fixmapi. I have tried a BUNCH of things, but no luck.

    Help! Thank you!

Sounds like they had you switch from: Internet Mail Only to Corporate/Workgroup mode.
Need to switch back to Internet Mail Only.

Normally will be asked which mode want during installation.
Even though program won’t open (it’s checking for mail in wrong mode and kicking that error up) should be able to change it from Control Panel - Mail

Do internet search for: outlook 2000 change from Corporate/Workgroup to Internet Only Mail

Sorry can’t be more specific – about to lose internet for 2 days and going on memory
Hopefully search will turn up good instructions. Post back – will check in on Sat/Sun.

Outlook 2000 has a limit - the PST file cannot be larger than 2 gigs.

That is exactly what they had me do. I'll give it a try. Thanks!

Yeah, I think that was my original problem. The file was just a bit over 2GB, and Outlook was stuck on loading new mail and hung. So I got the kernel program to try to open the pst file, and separate it into a coupe smaller ones, (which it can do). However, it had a problem when I first tried and told me to go to corp. workgroup mode as Ephemarial said above. Thanks for the response and help!
