My parents own a Hewlett Packard with the windows Me installed. They have a problem with their cats laying on the keyboard from time to time.I fixed that by installing a pull out shelve under the desk. But here is the problem, somwhere's along that happening, something was pressed on the keyboard. My parents no longer have the system folder, that contains calculator, scan disk, defrag, etc.I have gone thru find folders and it isn't there.I have done a system restore, but unfortunetly it still hasn't been found. What has possibly happened to it.Can someone help me on this?

    michael339 Hi

    Thats strange
Check the recycle bin see if the cats put anything in their .

You can use sytem restore to restore to a point right before the problem.>>>CAT<<<

go to the start butten -search- for files and folders--in the search for files and folders field type rstrui.exe this is system restore.

Whoops i see in your post that you did use sys restore
try useing it again to go fether back ?

Wait for more replys to this post tooo

I wouldn't recommend a system restore. Instead click on start, settings control panel, then go to add/remove programs. Once here click on the windows setup tab. check the accessories tab. I think this is what you are after, it contains the calculator, pant and other things. Try that, if all else fails then go ahead try the system restore, but be sure you have the critical update for system restore instsalled, otherwise it won't work.

Mike, the 'Tools' folder on my PC contains all shortcuts. i.e, there is a shortcut for 'Defrag' but the 'Defrag' application in under the Windows Directory. If you still have the executables, you can simply re-create the shortcuts for your applications. Your 'Windows' folder could not have been deleted. Good luck ..:)
