Messenger Service: what about these "Messenger Service" pop ups

    I am getting lots of pop up from "Messenger Service" since going to a new systrem with XP Pro. How do I get rid of this program and where does it come from.

    A few days ago I was under the impression that this was MS Messenger which, since I wasn't using it, I removed it. Whne the pop ups stopped for a few days, I thought I had removed the correct program, but in the last few days it has returned.

    It's messages seem to be primrily ads for **** sites. But even if they were useful, they are a real pain.

    Thanks for the info. Now I wait to see the results.

    In the other thread, it appears that no one is positive what happens if you ever eeed to open the port being blocked. Any ideas?
