Up till now I was able of a choice to close a Program by clicking the [X] top right of the open screen. The choice was " Return to previous screen" or "Close the Screen". This was very helpful in cases where I required to move into other parts of the Program as to now having to reopen the Program several times.
I can not recollect as to when or where this came from, but certainly it would be appreciated to have this back again. Has anyone used this?

This is really a program specific issue and not a Windows issue (except for Windows specific open Windows). For example, many programs let you set the option to minimize to the System Tray instead of closing the program when you press the X. So you will need to look into the options for the (and each) program you are using.

Yes, it is just as I thought, software in question has not that option available. It may come back on its own. Thanks for your response.

What happened a few days ago to cause the change???
Was this after you re-installed HP Omen software?

Did you uninstall the original HP Omen software before installing the replacement version.

lj50 - no I did not uninstall OMEN Control Software. I have now carried out uninstall and re-installed OMEN Control. A caption showed "USB device did not recognised". In start menu it shows as installed, colour sequence working. According to HP support Forum state that in the control panel it is possible to save all the settings. I fail to find this in the OMEN Control. As at present, I have to open the OMEN Control and close it to allow chosen colour during the computing session.

retiredlearner - nothing has been changed since error started. Thinking that perhaps Microsoft could change settings on ones computer without our knowledge of this happening. I have read of this happening in several magazines.

Opening the actual OMEN Control is entirely different to the installed. Only available is selecting the desired colour scheme, Simple, Advanced. Opening the OMEN Control Panel shown above is not as the downloaded, as Profile Name Field, Entering New Profile Name is certainly not available to my installed copy.

Bobby, was the HP OMEN software shown in Control Panel > Program and Features?
Did you uninstall it from there? Did you do a Restart of the comp to enable change to take place?

Yes it appears in Control Panel>Program and Feature. Uninstalling OMEN Control was carried out using Revo Uninstaller Premium. Computer was restarted immediately after Revo had completed. For the past two days, computer Cold Start, OMEN Control performs two cycles of colour scheme, then stays in the chosen colour. OMEN Control appears for the time being, working as should be. Certainly, procedure as shown above is not as my installed copy.

When you went to the HP website how did you find the Omen software? Did You let the website auto detect your machine or did you enter the information manually. If manually you should use the Product Number(P/N). The link I posted (barring updates) should be the version that's in your machine. If it is not my apologies.

HP Website, enter model number, it then shows a list of Updates available - OMEN Control was included on the list.

Usually HP will detect your machine from your info you gave them. HP will offer you the choice to do the download and install manually or HP will offer to use the auto download and install via a software download.

OMEN Control sp 76864 installed. OMEN Control worked ok for a couple of days, now requires OMEN Control to be opened by clicking icon, setting chosen. It then remains current, until computer is powered down. I can not find in sp76864 "save settings", probably reason for error. The sp76864 manual is different to what is actually installed in computer.-

HP PCs - Understanding and Using Windows 10 | HP® Customer Support
Bobby, just to clarify, in your System details you show Graphics NVIDIA 376-20 Geforce GTX1060 3Gb. If this is installed why don't you use NVIDIA Control Center to set your required graphics resolutions? As far as I can ascertain, Omen CC is for serious "GAMERS" who wish to colour their keyboard or enhance games scenery. It is not used for ordinary viewing.
This is from HP Product Info and is provided as part of HP Bloatware.
The above link relates to how to use W10 in your comp and how to set Background and Colours etc.
Your Thread starter relates to closing a program by clicking X at top right corner of screen? During the 2and1/2 years I've been using W10 - the only options I have been offered is when I close Windows Office Word and I'm asked whether I want to Save -Discard-Cancel the operation.
When I close with the X when using a browser - Windows will tell me if I have more than one tab open.
If there is only the one tab open - clicking the X will close the screen immediately back to the Desktop.
Please explain in more detail what you have experienced and with what programs.

Referring to OMEN Control, I find now, on putting the Control Icon in the task bar and each boot up, clicking the task bar icon "Control", I have immediate chosen colour showing until computer is closed down. Best option offered to me at present. Regards to the Graphics card installed, is shown as above. I am not a Gamer and have no intention of changing this. Display Resolution set at 1920x1080 as (Recommended). I do not have Windows Office Word installed or have I ever used this program. I use LibreOffice latest version for all my needs. Closing a programs as referred by me, was a caption shown on screen each time that I clicked the "Red x" top right of screen with this particular software. This caption just appeared and disappeared. Where is NVIDIA Control Centre found?

Thank you. In Control Panel>Hardware & Sound>NVIDIA Control Panel - 8.1.1040.1 has stopped working. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
