Resolved Side-by-side configuration is incorrect.

Using windows 10.
Opened my pc this morning and about a dozen of ny short cut icons on my desktop had changeand when I tried to open them I received the following:
"The application has failed to start because the side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more details"

Anyone any idea how to fix this .... or how I use the command-line sxstrace.exe ?
BTW I had earlier disabled Hola VPN from Google extention...don't know if that had anything to do with it.

 

Have you tried a Shut down and fresh Boot?

 

Yes, several times...... finally fixed it today...the old fashion way - did a restore to before last windows update...works ok now...thanks
