In conversation with a techie for Aabaco (India) on a web problem, I was instructed to "Press the Windows Key and the letter "R" ", which brought up the RUN box as expected. I was then asked to type in "run (space) programs" and the result was a splash saying that Windows cannot find run. No amount of using run programs, run.programs, run_programs, programs, or run opens anything for me.

    What am I doing wrong?

I should have said that we were trying to bring up the compatibility troubleshooter from this page but none of the instructions result in the desired result of getting to the program file to modify it.

    That's what I get too.

Note according to your link, it says to type run programs from the "Search" box, not the "Run" box. And when I enter that in the Search box, the "Program Compatibility Troubleshooter" does indeed open up.

OOPS. You're quite correct and I dummied out. Never occurred to me that this was part of that "Cortana" screen.
    Duh.....

Not necessarily. I use Start10 to make W10 look and feel like W7 with the W7 desktop and start menu - and don't use Cortana. But for this problem the results are the same.

Anyway, I am glad you got it sorted out and thanks for posting your followup.
