Did mange to get Norton (noyear) out of the +/_ pgms.
Then blew off all the SYM & Norton files on the hardfile.
    then reboot clean & fast.

Got msgDLL CCRE...... can't B found in some Symantec/sahred files. Sure I blew it all off.

Also got rid of Sym live update & live reg. from +/_ pgms.

Spybot froze a little way into pgm.

Now going to try Regscrub in real mode. Must post this incase it freezes again.

Go back and try the other Reg cleaners again. Easyclean and Regcleaner.

If you can get regcleaner up to the where all the programs are listed. Look for any norton or symantic entries and tag and delete them.

Then try the do them all again.

Regclean lets me say Y to the license now. Don't know how to use this. IT seems to allow me to erase anyhting & all things fromthe REG.

Don't hink I'll use it until U give me some guidence. Looks VERY Dangerous.

    Now I'll try diskclean.

    OK! Good.

    Sky

Look down the list and tag every thing you see pertaining to Norton or Symantec.

Also any program you know you have had but tried to uninstall or thought you uninstalled.

    Then remove them.

After they have been removed go to the top Tools-Registry Cleanup-Do them all. Then delete all it finds. All!

Do it! We may finally be getting somewhere!

Now when I boot I get a msg

    ccRegVfy.exe Unable to locate DLL

DLL library CCREGMON.dll can't B found in the specified path c:\prgfiles\.....common Fi\Symantec\Shared & others. No wonder I blew all the Symantec files away.

I guess Regclean may fix this so I'll try it next .

    Thx for the instructions.

Also tried to run Quicken2003, & it failed so I'll blow that away too.

Don't remove any normal programs yet. It looks like we are getting somewhere now.

If you get thru RegCleaner do EasyClean next. In EasyClean do only unnessesary files and Registry.

Then if that works try the SpyBot again.

Had to log onto other 'puter. Ran Regcleaner on first page to delete Symantec Zonealarm (prob form longggggggggggg ago) & a Netscape entry (also old prob). Also got rid of Quicken as that prog didn't run smoothly either.

The wne to second page of Regclean & deleted Quicken. System wouldn't boot 7 times & I thought I was upthe crick.

Finally booted & still have the CCregvfy msg. The DLL is form Norton, so don't know why it's even looking for it. Can only assume that it's in the Reg & needs to B removed.

Ran Regclean again based on U're first post 1/11. Foudn & was deleting 8 Symantec entires when the 'puter froze.

    Will try toreboot it now.

Regscrub had only 1 item to fix. Regclean again froze deleting 8 Symantex entries, so I'm going ot try the MSregcleaner. Done.

Now I'll run regclean to see if the Symantex entries are gone. Symantec entires still there, took out Zonealarm & Netscape. Reboot now.

It is time to try something else. Go to command prompt and type

    chkdsk /r

It will tell you it will do it on next boot!

Let it do so. When it comes back up shut down again and try safe mode again!

If you can get into safe mode run all the cleaners and SpyBot again.

Sorrythisis taking so long, but each time I get a step done & reboot so it takes effect, the machine takes 5 or 6 tries until it re-boots successfully. I've triedto use the tools registry scan to get rid of bad entires, but it seems to freeze with excessive disk reading. Just as it did when it tried to do a virus scan or a Scandisk.

Any idea why it freezes when trying to do a a lot of disk access.

Have not yet run chkdsk........wil when it reboots this time.

    Thx again for your time.

    setting up chkdsk now.

Also no entry in the reg for the CCREGMON dll in the registry tho I still get the boot error????
