Resolved windows 7 shutting down

everything is onboard and data cables have been changed, only connected device that is not needed to operate is DVD player but will try that. could this be a cmos setting somewhere that I haven't found by chance?

 

I might be way off base here but...., I wonder if it could be related to a problem with the power switch on the computer. If it were a software problem, you wouldn't see the windows is shutting down thing. I would think anyway. Check in your power options and see what it's set to do when you press on the power button. If it's set to shutdown, change it to sleep or whatever else you choose from (I don't have a windows 7 computer anymore and don't remember the available options). Whatever the case, if you change it to something like sleep and it does that, it would indicate a problem with the switch. I know it's a kind of a far fetched idea but it can't hurt to try it.

how did you fix a power button? I did see an error in viewer that the "user initiated a shut down" which I did not do.

...or change the setting that applies to what happens when you push the power button

 

it was in fact the power switch/cable, when new cable was installed I could see a difference in the button light (much brighter) and has been on now for 10 days with no shut down.
