    Hi,
I recently copied and pasted an article in Word 2000. It had several figures showing dialog boxes, etc.
I printed the article and it printed fine.
I then saved the article. Now when I click on the file to open it in Word, the figures to not show up; just the text.
In place of the figures there are rectangles with a small square in the upper left hand corner of the rectangle. In the square there is a circle, a square and a triangle.
Does anyone know what would cause this problem.
    Thanks

I'm guessing you pulled this from the net. If you right click on the images, select properties. If it shows the url, then you didnt save the pics. If you right clicked on the pics, selected copy, you copied the url, not the pic. It sounds like you printed it while still connected to the net. You could have selected file, save as, web page..

    Hi Aleekat,
    Thanks for the reply.
No, a zip file was sent to me. I extracted to a folder. In the folder there was a .doc file which I clicked to open. It opened in Word.
Sometimes the pics(figures) would print; other times they would not. When they did print, I saved the file. But now when I open the file, no pics(figures)
    Very strange

You still should have the original zip file. Maybe something got corrupted. You could unzip again, and reopen and see what happens..

    Hi Aleekat,
OK, I went back to the folder with the unzipped files in it and clicked on the .doc file. It opened in Word just fine with all of the figures and text.
Before printing and saving this file to another folder, I changed the color of the font in the text parts of the file because it was very light and hard to read. After changing, I printed a copy and then saved the file.
Now if I bring up the saved file, it no longer has the figures in it; just a rectangle in it's place.

    Hi again Aleekat,
    I tried something else.
I took the original .doc file from the unzipped folder and made the following changes:
It had a blue background where there was just text. I selected all and then changed the background to white.
I then selected all and changed the font color to blackand now in place of the figures, there is nothing; no rectangle; just a blank space.

When you get the rectangles, right click, then properties. If it shows an address, post it here..
