Resolved Win 10 Pro Start (soft & hard button) no response

Hi friends

I have an hp laptop (2006) now installed with win10.Pro.64bit. It was working for sometime but recently the Start Button, both soft & hard, totally don't response. The soft button turn blue when touched but that's it. I did a restart of the Windows Explorer at Task Manage, reboot, nothing happens.

The only start hard button that works without fail is Win-x.

Any pointers to crack this.

 

10 years old laptop - may be pushing it too much with W10. Not worth spending any money if keyboard is failing.
Re-read your Thread and gather Start button you refer to is in W10. This means the OS is frozen and not responding. Can you open Task Manager? In Processes > scroll down to Windows Explorer and left click on it. Restart should show in right lower corner, click on that and see what happens. You may have to re-install W10.

 

Neil i did that Restart WinExplorer as mentioned in start of the thread. Moreover the keyboard is not failing.

It is most likely OS got corrupted, contemplating of restoring from image. Meanwhile hoping someone can give a faster fix instead. Cheers.

 

Finally

I use POWERSHELL as admin to scan SFC /SCANNOW, it found no problems at all.
At the same go, i do NET USER fuzmic passWd /ADD, everything comes back ie all the Start buttons and the Wifi (unable to pick up) is now fully functioning..
