I've been pretty good not ever opening suspicious email, but after years of being good at spotting them, I was fooled.

A "friend" (name) sent me an email that said, "I've Shared a secure file Document attached with Google icon."
It had a link that said, "click document." I clicked it and I had to sign in to my google account. When I did, I got a message that said I signed in different then I usually do.

It opened up a e-pamphlet type thing.

I'm wondering if id did more then that? Is there anyway to know where the message came from and other things about it?

    Thank you,
    Chris.

Did you contact your friend to see if he/she really sent the email and shared that file?

Did you download anything to your machine?

Scan with your regular anti-malware program, then scan again with a good supplement program. For that, I recommend Malwarebytes's Anti-Malware (MBAM).

Note you may get that "different log in" message if you recently logged in with a different computer, if you recently purged all your cookies, or if you recently made significant changes to your computer (such as install a major OS update).

Didn't download anything that I know of. One warning I got years a go was when you click on an attachment in an email. it can run stuff on the computer (without you knowing it).

I ran mailwarebytes and didn't find anything. Any of these type programs are way over stated as to how effective they are ( "Future Crimes" by Marc Goodman). If Mailwarebytes was the best program, it still wouldn't be that good.

    Thank you for the reply,

    Chris.

Try heading over to the Malware and Virus Forum and have broni check out your machine. He has special tools that will find anything suspicious and will write special code specific to your machine to remove it.

The above should be your first step.
