I got the update last night. After downloading and installing, it rebooted a couple of times until it got to a black screen with the spinning wheel on the bottom of the screen. It stayed like that for a while so I went to bed. Woke up 7 hours later to the same screen,
I unplugged the PC for a few minutes and when I plugged it back in, got the normal boot up screen with the Gateway logo, got to that black screen again and got a message "attempting to recover i stallation. "
It rebooted again but went back to the black screen again,
As of now, this computer is useless. I have the basic free version of Win10.
    Thanks

Hi The WobMob. If you can see if you can perform a system restore and restore your computer to a point before the anniversary update installed. See this link, How to Do a System Restore of Windows 10.

Do you have your important data backed up?

I don't have anything overly important, it's mainly for gaming. I created a restore point a couple of days ago.
After unplugging and plugging the power cord, it roll Windows back to a previous update. However, it still wants to apply the 1607 update. All I can do is tell it to wait for a manual restart. I can't stop it from downloading. Right now, I'm able to use the computer, just don't know for how long.

I ran it and instructed it to hide the 1607 update but it still shows, although it says "waiting for install for the 1511 update and "error" for 1607.

Download and run the Windows Update MiniTool and make sure the anniversary update is completely hidden and then try checking for updates again.

It doesn't come up when I check for updated. In history it shows as failed. The 1511 update shows in progress, waiting for the computer to reboot.

Go ahead and remove the update if its installed in your list of installed Windows Updates. If its not listed in your installed updates window, and you can't hide the update, then reboot the computer and try checking for updates again and see if you can hide it this time.

That did it. Rebooted, it finished the 1511 update. Now when I check Windows Update is doesn't show anything. Thank you! I'll have to keep my eye on when MS decides to fix the 1607 update.
