I am trying to use a HP deskjet with my computer. Every time I print, it says Document Failed to Print. The printer still prints the document, but it takes about 10 minutes to print just one page. The entire time it is printing I am getting the above error message. If you go into the print que under status it says Error Printing, then switches to Printing, then says Error Printing, Then Printing and back and forth. The printer prints one to 2 lines, then stops, then prints a couple more lines, then stops and continues like this until the document is finished. I have uninstalled and reinstalled about 4 times, have check the devices in device manager and they say everything is working properly.

No answers here, just pushing this back to the top. Does anybody have any idea what's going on here? Buck Buck's my sister (hi Buck Buck :) ) and I spent some time on the phone with her a couple nights ago on this but didn't have any luck so I told her about this board and to try posting it here. Maybe a little more info would help. The printer is a usb HP 900 series (940 I think). The computer is a compaq pressario notebook that she said she bought sometime this past December. 256 MB of ram if I remember correctly. I don't believe it ever worked properly on this computer. The printer works just fine on her other computer (desktop of some sort) which is running win98 so I kind of assumed it was an OS issue. She's tried changing the spool and port settings in the printer setup with no luck. As she stated, she tried reinstalling drivers, also downloaded new ones. Being that it's a usb printer I don't really know if there's anything in the bios she can try changing. Anybody know? She emailed compaq and said they were quite prompt in getting back but it sounds as though she just got the usual canned answers. Her description of the problem is pretty much it. Error message, print, error message, print and so it goes until it's done. She says there's no conflicts showing in device manager. Wonder if it could be a problem with the type of cable she's using. I'm kinda stuck as I don't have xp so don't really know the os and being she's in Michigan and I'm in Minn. it's kinda tough for me without having it sitting in front of me (if you know what I mean). Anybody have any ideas at all here?

If anything's wrong here you'll have to correct it. Just going by what I remember here. Have you been in touch with Compaq anymore? Have you tried getting in touch with HP?

    Hello
Not sure if this will help but I had a problem with my printer too only because I had the wrong drivers so maybe she could check and see what and where she got them.
Go to the hp site make sure she got the drivers there and they are the rite ones because HP has USA,Canada<etc etc she needs to make sure she got them from the USA/Canada assuming your in the USA LOL not the others.
Also when I got my printer is was for windows 95/98 software and when I got my new PC with Windows XP and its also is a hp there was no need to install printer software only the drivers for xp.
Maybe she got the drivers off the compaq site not HP I know they bought them lol but may make a diffrence who knows I hope this help.

Zander had all the information. Thanks for helping me. This is still new for me. I also tried, removing the drivers three different ways, and then reinstalled them. I got the latest drivers from the HP website, but I am still not having any luck.

I am running out of solutions. I went through HP for help, but I was given suggestions that I have already done, which is the usuall, uninstall and reinstall the drivers all over again, and make sure I have the most current driver for this printer. I am at a loss for anymore ideas. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Buck Buck

Before you give up and throw the printer out the window, try install via "Compatabily Mode" going back to w98. If you have the original "install" disk, pop it in and give it a try. Worked once, maybe you'll luck out. We'll cross our fingers. :)
