I use Creative Wave Studio to record whatever sound is playing on my computer to a WAV file. I have the Sound Blaster Audigy which is full duplex allowing me to do this.

I've never had any problem using it until now. I played a RAM file and used the recorder. It seemed to be working; the sound indicators on the right side of the window were flashing, indicating that it picked up the sound. However when I tried to play the file back it was muted.

I have checked my sound mixer in the Windows tray and nothing is muted. I checked the options in the Wave Studio and everything is set as it should be.

It will play back WAV files I choose from my hard drive, but will not play back anything it's recorded by itself. I have made no changes to my Sound Blaster software so I have no idea why it won't work all of a sudden. I'm using the original drivers that came with the sound card.

If you are trying to record into the Wave Studio from an outside source, such as external CD player, tape player, record palyer, etc - check these settings:
double click on the little yellow speaker in the system tray to open up the "Volume control "

    Click on OPTIONS

    Select PROPERTIES

    Select RECORDING and hit OK

To make sure you are able to RECORD something, you need to make sure the INPUT is selected.

    2)
If you are trying to record from within the operating system itself, such as recording a MIDI playback, which will then convert it to a .wav file,
    check these settings:
In the Wave Studio, select OPTIONS, select MIXER SETTINGS
Is the volume up for the type of playback you are using? Wavesynth, MIDI, Line-In, CD, and so on?

Check your Record settings too for Stereo, 44100 HZ and 16 bit.

Thanks for the info. I found another program that does the same thing, Creative Recorder. It allows me to record from "What U Hear ". As long as it keeps working, I'm good to go.
