Resolved Windows 10 Wont Let Me Shutdown

    Hello, When I click shutdown on my PC nothing happens. I have tried to right click and shutdown, push the power button on my PC, and I even tried running the command shutdown -s -t 0 -p and nothing worked. The command brought up the Dos window but it was blank and nothing happened. Please help so I don't have to hurt my PC more then I have to. Thanks

    1st you should start by making sure you have your drivers (specially graphics) updated.

    Do you have a USB drive plugged in? It has been reported that if you have such a drive and this drive has file system errors, this will cause the behavior you are seeing.

    Try pressing he [Shift] key wile clicking the shutdown button (and keep [Shift] pressed to see if this helps.

    Another thing to check: In Power Options select Choose what the power buttons do, click Change setting that are currently unavailable and see if you have the option Fast Boot. If you have, make sure it is unchecked.

    Thank you Arie! The video card seemed to be the issue. Its an Nvidia 970 and it never wants to let me install the driver for it. I was finally able to install the driver in safe mode. Now the shutdown button works again.
