My Microsoft corded usb mouse has just started to give problems so I swapped it for a Trust corded usb mouse, the problem I am having is that the Led on the Microsoft mouse goes out when the pc is switched off but the LED on the Trust mouse stays on when the pc is switched off.
My motherboard is a Gigabyte Z77M-D3H
Hope someone can throw some light on this !!

One works right, the other one don't is what you are saying? The one that don't work right is probably broke. Mice are pretty cheap these days. Go CORDLESS if you get a new one. You won't regret it one bit.

Unless you power down the PC at the mains there is always voltage on the board - probable cause.

I believe that the motherboard does have facilities for charging things like Iphones when the pc is off but it seems strange that the Microsoft mouse light goes out but the Texet mouse one stays on

Wireless mice have the switch off builtin when there is no movement for a preset time. The slightest movement can activate them - sometimes just a heavy footed person can be enough to make them active.
The only suggestion I can make if the cable is USB. Go to Device Manager and expand USB controllers > Right click on Root Hubs (individually) Left click on Properties > Power Management > check Allow computer to switch off this device to save power. See if that helps. Neil.

Like Pete pointed out, my Mouse is always on PS2, unless the comp is turned off at the wall, which I never do.
