2 updates (defender and cumulative) installed on 3-2-16 have hung up my
    system twice tonight.

The sys will reboot and get to the "wait for local user profile" message and it
    never finishes....
I had to restore win 10 twice to get around this problem, and, of course, it
tells me that updates will install on next reboot.

Has anyone managed to get these updates installed with out problems?

    thanks,

I haven't had a problem on 2 different laptops with any of them. Did a couple of updates also from 7 and 8.1 to 10 and they haven't had any problems either.

No problems here on 5 different W10 systems (1 notebook and 4 PCs).

    Mr. Bill,
I think my modem burned out during the windows update!!!

I restored the sys again after replacing the modem and will find out for sure
when i try the update again.

Meantime, i'm marking this thread closed and will wait for (any) future
    results.

    Thanks for the help,

 Well, no way downloading an update burned out the modem. It must have been on its last leg anyway - or maybe you had a power anomaly hit it (I have all my network gear running through my UPS with AVR for that reason).

don't think the update had anything to do with the modem failing but
maybe the update was incomplete when the modem went by-by.

Dont know what happened but a new modem cured to hang up. so i'm
    happy! :)
