I recently purchased a new phone and was able, initially, to view the files on the phone and, in fact changed the ringtone by converting a mp3 file to an ogg file and then placed it in the correct folder on the phone. But, something has happen and I cannot view the files on the phone as I could previously.
I suspect that I disconnected the phone before seeing the "ok to disconnect devise safely" notification.
Could that have corrupted the usb driver?
    Thanks for any input.

    Second issue. somewhat related:
Additionally, I use a photo viewer software called ACDSee *ver. 18.
When I plug the phone in, ACDSee launches. How may I stop this from happening?

Thanks to forum members in advance. You've always been quite helpful.

All it usually takes is to connect the phone, then on the phone select "Media device (MTP)" instead of "Camera (PTP) ".

"ok to disconnect devise safely" is something that's no longer needed > Windows XP.

Pull down the Notification Bar and it should show how it is connected. You will need USB Debugging enabled to see the Files. Neil.

What stage are you at with your problems?
I have Samsung S4 phones and to get MTP+ADB I use the keypad and dial *#0808# and there I can check the above area and OK out.
I can't guarantee this will work on all brands of smartphones.
I can only suggest it may be in the Start Menu. Can you Remove/Disable the program so that you can activate it when you want to?
Have you been to the ACDSee website for user help?

Thank you for your suggestions. The link provided was a great help and I have been able to solve the issues with ACDSee by changing launch options.
I was also able to follow directions to temporarily set the USB debugging options, using the link, provided by lj50. Issues resolved. Thanks, again.
