Resolved trying to undo win 10

    i have a gateway all in one computer, zx4970 and most of my programs don't work so i want to go back to 8.1 but its been more than 30 days.
    i tried going through gateway restore manager to go back to factory settings, but this win 10 won't let me do anything. any sug.

    I tried everything, even tried to reformat the hard drive with a boot disk. but it won't even let me do that it goes through the motions then just takes me back to the openening page
    of win 10.the says reset didn't work you lost nothing.

    I don't have a copy of win 8.1 it came with the computer, and I don't have backup copy.
    and there is no sticker with the number on it.

    You fall into the category of the 1st link in my previous Post. As I suggested you may have to visit the program sites for help otherwise you will need to purchase a new licence. :eek: :mad: Neil.

    You can create your own Windows 8 installation disk by following the instructions in this link, Create installation media for Windows 8.1.

    Once you have your installation disk created, you will be able to perform a clean install of Windows 8.1 using the guide that I linked to in my previous post.

    Starting with Windows 8, the product key is stored in the BIOS/UEFI for OEM systems instead of having a COA sticker on the side of the case so the machine should automatically activate after installing a fresh copy of Windows 8.1.

    just wanted to thank you, gotit installed, no problems. but I did find out what was causing all the problems. seems I had a trogan horse called KOOBFACE.
