This is the message that pops up every time on startup of my 8.1 desktop. It continues to say:
SETUP option is available to set SATA to AHCI mode
Now is IDE mode, the system can not support Hot Plug
Would you like to chang the mode Y/N
Do you want BIOS to enable this option for you?
Y: Yes, set SATA to AHCI
N: No, do not show this message again

I've just pressed any key to continue and ignore the message, but I figure it is time to make a decision. I have two HDDs plugged into my 2.0 SATA inputs, one of them is an IDE with a SATA adapter, and the other is straight SATA. I will also be adding a 3.0 SATA SSD into my 3.0 SATA input. Should I set SATA to AHCI or just stop the message from popping up?

Hi Barry. Yes you should set your hard drive to AHCI mode. See this link for a more detailed explanation between the two modes, AHCI vs. IDE.

Rather than AHCI, would you suggest RAID? If so, how would I set that up (SSD on 3.0 SATA, HDD on 2.0 SATA and IDE HDD with adapter to 2.0 SATA).

I switched to AHCI, and all started up fine. I think I'll pass on the RAID. Thank you.
