    Hi,

I decided to do a clean windows 10 install on an Asus N56VJ laptop because the upgrade broke many things. After doing all windows (driver) updates and installing some programs I wanted to install a Canon MX920 printer and older HP Laserjet printer both via (Wireless) network.

The MX920 installer crashed during setup but after some research I found out that turning off the option "let windows manage my default printer" resolved the issue.
Now I tried to install the HP Laserjet via "add a printer ". from the moment it start searching all network connectivity crashes and a reboot seems to be the only way to solve it.

I Installed the latest wireless driver for AR9485WG-EG (newer then windows update) with no result.
There is no newer BIOS update or other drivers available from Asus support. Acronis backup for pc is installed and no AV program for the moment.

Anyone who has experience with this issue or has suggestions that can help me?

    Many thanks!

Try installing the HP printer via the cd that came with it or the program you download from HP.

As for drivers for ASUS you should easily be able to dl drivers for your model by googling the model numbers such as my "Asus k52f drivers" will result http://www.driverasus.com/asus-k52f-windows-7-drivers/.
Note that they will not supply drivers for your printer.
The Canon printers come in many flavors and I had at one time a MX series while back. I am currently using a MG series and the Win10 finds it easily. It's cheaper to buy a printer than the ink in some cases. :)

Your model seems to be win8 Asus N56VJ

Hi Donckmeister, Welcome to WindowsBBS. :) Here's a link to MS W10 Help:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us
Please look through this thoroughly as there is a section dealing with printer problems.
MS advised that before trying to Upgrade, users should backup and ensure they could contact 3rd. party software/program suppliers for suitable drivers after the upgrade and to Disable any 3rd. party AV/Malware programs BEFORE the upgrade.
These could then be setup after the upgrade after all W10 updates had been installed and the OS was operating OK.
Defender is the AV which would protect the comp during this process. Once another AV program is installed - it closes Defender down.
Hope this helps you understand W10 world better. Neil.

The only thing that worked was to add it manually with a fixed ip. If windows had to search the network for the printer it crashed. That was the only workaround for me.

    Thanks for the suggestions!
