Windows 10 was updated a couple of days ago. What a POS!!

Who's the bright spark that decided that every time the computer went into sleep mode, it had to be reawakened with a new log-in, with the full re-register with password, etc?

Additionally, some other dumb-s--t decided that what previously were single click activations were now required to be double clicks.

Is there a way to get back to the operational characteristics of the original W-10?

LOL, that bright spark gave you an option to go to Settings-Accounts-Sign-in options and change it in ....wait for it.....Required sign-in then choose never from the drop down menu.

The other situation can readily be resolved in perhaps the Control Panel-File Explorer Options.

I'm sure they are just thinking of security for your system on the first part. I have several family members jump on my pc at any givin time.

Thanks, MasterChief. At least I don't have to go through the hassle every time it goes to sleep. I'm the only one in the household that uses my lap-top. DW is an iPad user and there's just the two of us here most of the time. It will be interesting to see if it starts without a password after being switched off overnight.

I haven't figured out the "click" issue yet, but I'll mark the thread "resolved ".

FYI, I'm using Chrome as my browser - don't care for "Edge ".

Yes Chrome is the way to go, especially if you use High Contrast Themes. It is the only one that does not mandate the use of colored background.

BTW does DW stand for dish washer? just kidding. :) I am now the "DW" in my house since I am retired.

I would be wary of Chrome as the best to use. Chrome has had quite a number of hiccups with W10 and associated software.
Had to spend some time with my brothers Toshiba laptop last week - Chrome was the culprit.
    Happy New Year. :D Neil.

    Neil:

Before the W-10 unapproved update to my lap-top from its original 8.1, I used IE on one of my regular home pages and Chrome on the other. W-10 deleted IE (I thought) and dumped Edge on me. The other day, I happened to be looking at flies and found one named InternetExplorerOld. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but it might be where IE was "dumped" by the W-10 invasion.

I'll resurrect it if that was the case, as it's useful to have both browsers running at the same time. I'll put "Edgeremoved" in the file box!

Interestingly, I haven't run into any compatibility problems between Chrome and W-10.

    Yes IE is still there.
In Chrome extentions there is one to help default the Bing to Google Search when you type into the Taskbar search.
